New Rumenco Calf and Youngstock Product to Deliver Real Benefits
Rumenco has launched a NEW controlled intake lick bucket which is aimed specifically at the calf and youngstock market.
Technical and Marketing Director Mark Scott explains; “With 1 in 7 dairy calves and 1 in 13 beef calves dying during the rearing phase in the UK, supporting the young animal as it’s immunity develops is key. The immune system is not fully developed until eight months of age, therefore any nutritional support that we can offer will be beneficial to animal health and performance and the herd’s overall longevity and productivity, whether they are beef or dairy animals.”
Maxx Calf Health is aimed at animals from 2 weeks of age right through to breeding or moving to a finishing ration in fattening animals. It contains Diamond V XPC and Zinpro Availa® zinc both of which are backed by science to support animal health, immunity and performance – a welcome development as the industry faces up to ongoing challenges around the use of antibiotics. Diamond V XPC is also proven to help the development of the digestive system to support target growth rates in youngstock.
Numerous intake studies undertaken in the development of the MAXX range, have shown real benefits in cost control when supplementing with controlled intake licks, whilt achieving the target intakes to support nutritional health.
Mr Scott concludes “Maxx Calf Health is an exciting development for farmers enabling them to complement their existing starter and rearer programs with the known benefits of key ingredients, without any need for feeding system changes”
Innovation and research-based initiatives have helped Rumenco maintain their position at the forefront of the ruminant supplement market and allows the company to develop a product offering in line with the needs of modern farming techniques and stock requirements.
