VALUABLE TOOL FOR CALCULATING FORAGE STOCKS THIS WINTER

In response to the flurry of calls for advice on dealing with potential forage shortages this winter, Rumenco have produced an easy to use forage stocks calculator. This easy to use tool will help enable cattle and sheep farmers to measure and manage stocks carefully over the coming months.

The calculator has been developed so that only the most basic information is required to determine stocks of both clamp and baled forages and the estimated date that these are expected to run out.   

“Allowing farmers to quickly identify potential shortages will help to ensure either existing forage stocks are managed more carefully, or to aid in forward planning for buying in any additional feed and forage to cover the winter-feeding period” explains Alison Bond, Rumenco Technical Adviser.
